Guest guest
Dear Vonny, Yes, this can certainly be a " die off " reaction, timing sounds right. There was five of us in the house of " die off " in the first week of strict SCD lol! My husband vomited. I was nauseous and so was my son. All had strange poops, cramping, pains, and felt like we had the flu. KiKi was listless, whiney and irritable. No appetite, yet CRAVINGS FOR SWEETS! All felt miserable. TRUE die off. Can last 3 to 10 days, form our experience. Later days feel better one part of day, worse the later part. Most Doctors will not understand the " die off " reaction. Or SCD, you are right. Most can stay at home with " die off " . Make sure she is not getting dehydrated. Treat her like she has the flu. Take care of yourself too, it may be starting. Keep hydrated with anything legal that she can sip on. Broth, half water and half juice, Ice chips are good. All intro foods in BTVC book. Soaks in WARM Tub with Epson Salts are helpful. Also Activated charcoal capsules taken one hour before and one hour after meals is helpful too (for little ones can mix in applesauce with a bit of honey. Then a big drink of water. Soaks up the toxins from building up (from all the microorganisms in the gut dieing) from building up and making one feel sick. Help tremendously when we used it. This is the beginning of your healing, congratulations! Remember " This too shall pass! " From our experience, Rewards are to come if you stick with it! Hope this helps, Antoinette and and family SCD 2/06 celiac, add, adhd, asd and more
Guest guest
Vonny, Yes, this can happen with die-off. There is an electrolyte drink recipe listed on pecanbread.com in the " drinks " section. That might help. Epsom salts baths will also help with detoxing. Patti, mom to Katera initial bad reaction? HI My family started the SCDiet yeasterday and am all OK except my 3yr old daughter. She ate well at breakfast and lunch, but seemed too tired to eat dinner. She was unwell all night, and was throwing up this morning, but there really wasn't anything in her tummy (normally there would still be heaps in the morning so I guess she did at least digest the food. I couldn't see these symptoms listed for die-off and am wondering if anyone else experienced this. I would like a bit of knowledge in case I need to take her to the doctor as the doctor who is helping us is not working for a few days, and other doctors aren't very understanding of restricting childrens diets I have found. Thanks Vonny
