Guest guest
Hi, everyone. When I was at the rheumy's yesterday, I asked him what he thought about the antibiotic protocol. He explained very carefully the various actions Biaxin has, and why it may be useful in autoimmune conditions. I followed the explanations while he was making them but I am afraid I can't reproduce them. But he said in general he would rather stick with more tried and tested treatments. I explained that I am just interested in finding out what is around for when I eventually have to come off methotrexate. Although when I was first on metho I was told I would probably not be on it for more than one year; but now I have been on it for three years with no ill effects he says there is no reason why I shouldn't stay on it at the moment. It has a lower incidence of long term problems than some of the other meds. The combination of metho, plaquenil and 5mg pred seems to be working pretty well for me. I am OK with 5mg of pred. I do all the things you must do, like bone density, regular eye exams, regular blood tests esp liver functions. I can't complain - I know I function better than a lot of younger " healthier " people - LOL. The only thing I can't get on top of is getting tired sometimes!!!! But I don't think I am alone in that!! BTW I had the second shot in the knees - it hurt slightly more than last time - may be the " space " is getting filled up!! But so far, so good. Love to all, Liz __________________________________________________
