Guest guest
, fortunately I have not had to go on insulin. But my nephew (who has type 1 diabetes) says it is very easy to put on weight when you are on insulin, if you have a bit too much insulin your body craves carbs. I believe glucophage is the only diabetes medication which doesn't cause you to put on weight. But as diabetes is a disorder of hormone balance that's not really surprising. When I am on my very best behaviour, I find 10 minutes on the exercise bike after meals is a very effective aid to sugar control. But sometimes, that is hard to do. Especially when the back the knees and the ankles all hurt!! However, if I am honest, if I persevere with the exercise it helps the aches and pains, too. Still, I'll resist the sledding, although I must agree, it does look fun!!!
