I am also a caregiver to a patient with chronic pancreatitis. My name is

Carol, and my hubby is Bruce. Some of you may remember him. I know he has

chatted with Mark several times. He is in the hospital right now with a severe

attack. The CAT shows calcification and inflammation. As a caregiver, I find

it

extremely difficult. There are times that are good, I suppose when he is

feeling somewhat better, but at times he can also be very grumpy and snap for

whatever reason. It is hard not being able to do things that we like, such as

dining out, visiting, making ANY sort of plans. I do miss that, as we are in

our retirement years now with an empty nest. These are supposed to be OUR

years. I feel robbed! But, I also know Bruce feels robbed as well. I try my

best

to be fully supportive but there just seems to be a brick wall that surfaces

so often that we both bump against. I think we all must deal on a day by day

basis, and be thankful for another day together. I miss him terribly now that

he is in the hospital but I know that is where he belongs at this point in

time. I hope I have been of some help.

Carol,

Thank you for your honesty. I think we sometimes need to hear the other side to

fully understand. I know it is easy to feel robbed, I have been a caregiver in

the past with an ex I was with for 5 years, he blew it by cheating on me though,

while I supported him and his two kids! He just went on to find someone else to

use though. I still talk to the kids though, they are older with families of

their own now and tell me thank you all the time. I miss the girls but I

certainly do not miss him! LOL

Any way thank you again, I can see where you are coming from though with feeling

robbed. I guess all we can do is hope for the good days to be really good so we

can have quality time with our loved ones.

By the way tell Bruce to get better and to be nice to the nurses! I hope he is

getting some pain relief, and resting the old pancreas!
