I had a phone call this afternoon from the sales representative who has been helping me from The Scooter Store. She called to tell me that she had received word that my Rheumy at Duke has approved me for the scooter that I had qualified for. I think it is a Jazzy power chair. The scooter that I have is a refurbished one and does not have enough power to go up minor inclines (ie. like in a mall or from the car to Wal-Mart's front door.) I will still use the other scooter (has a basket) for big shopping and to ride the kids around. I am so excited that I did get my Dr. to approve it. My GP would not sign. My Dr. who did sign is my Rheumy who diagnosed me for Fibromyalgia. So, don't give up if one Dr. denies approval, another might be able to help you.
