Dear ,

It's a shame that you weren't given any more instruction or

counseling regarding your first pancreatitis attack. I know that is

scary and not knowing anything about why it's going on or what's

caused it makes it even worse.

You hit the nail on the head in your description of where you felt

your pain.....right under the breastbone where that little " V' " is.

Well, that's actually the base of your sternum, and that's the very

first place where the pains used to bother me before I was

diagnosed with acute/chronic pancreatitis. I remember sitting on

the stairs at home pressing up against that " V " spot and

wondering " what in the world was there that would be causing

this much pain? " Eventually I had that first attack and my

questions were answered!

Since you aren't a drinker, doper or don't have any gallbladder

problems, I guess that narrows down the causes for your attack

somewhat. Other things that can cause an attack are certain

prescribed medicines, high triglycerides, scorpion bite (not a

species found in the US), heriditary causes and that old standby

reason that they call " idiopathic " ......which means they just don't

know!

No matter what your cause, unless you've been having continual

problems with pain thereafter, there's every possibility that this

may be a one time deal and you won't have another attack at all.

If the pain persists and you don't fully recover from that first

attack, then you would be considered chronic. Managing the

disease once it becomes chronic is great deal more detailed

than standard treatment for a singular acute attack is

Once you've read through Marc's website and learned all you

can, why don't you answer some of our questions and let us

know how we can help you.

With hope, prayers and love,

Heidi
