Guest guest
Hey ya all , ( see she even has me talking like a souhthern-er !). and I met with Chrissy last night. Shirley was ill and could not meet us but we called her while we were in Cincy. Chrissy is a hoot ! Nothing much gets past that lady!. We had a good time. We went to the resturant at the hotel and we all actually got to eat, thanks to pain meds of course. , Chrissy and I enjoyed our meals, cutting off every piece of fat on our plates and watching what we ate. We even passed on dessert, but that was hard decision. Chrissy has lots of internal energy and is very receptive and observant . ( Opps,, I probably should of not said that,, after all she was observing some gentleman in the hotel,,, after all looking does not cost anything!). She saw Dr. s and she seemed pleased with his bedside manner. He is very detailed and asked her TONS of questions. I will let her come back and tell you all that happened. However, he wants her to stay a few xtra days to have an EUS done. He wants to personnally be 100% sure that her pancreas needs removed before he commits to the surgery. So he wants to do an MRI and and EUS Friday. She is nervous about having the EUS done as she will require general anesthesia and she has no family with her. I reminded her to ask the docs to admit her Friday night as they can not expect her to walk 2 blocks from the hospital to the hotel after her procedure. So if she is still very sleepy or not feeling well, I am sure that she will push for the admission. Her MRI could not be scheduled so she will have that done at home but the EUS will be done tomorrow at 1;00 pm. SO if you all think about it say a prayer for Chrissy and her EUS tomorrow. The doctor just wants to be sure that her pancreas indeed needs removed and he wants to see if for his own two eyes. Can't blame him and she understands but still it is anxiety producing. But she is a fighter and I have faith that she will do well with the EUS. Apparently the EUS is not as hard on you as the ERCP, so I have faith that she will be OK. I will call the hotel tomorrow night to check on her. If not she will call me Saturday if she leaves on Angel flight then. They have been updated and are ready for a Saturday flight if needed. Chrissy has it all under control. She has a contagious personality and a great sense of humor. Gosh,,, can you imagin what she would be like with pre op meds !!!!!!!! She will be cracking jokes and having them all in stitches. Better go for now, hospital called, possible discharge for my dad tomorrow so I have alot yet to do tonight. Take care all, Lily to lily Hi Lily, I wish I could go with you gals, but I have to work and I'm not feeling the greatest. Thanks for the invite. Maybe we can meet somewhere someday and visit. T. Guest guest
Hey Lily, Y'all were so great to go to Cincy and meet up with Chrissy. It sounds as though you all had a good time and I'm sure that having you there to talk to after the appointment was very soothing for Chrissy. I know that whenever I have a serious appointment with a lot to discuss that having someone to discuss it with afterwards really helps. I'm so glad that you and were able to be there for her. The fact that the doctor wanted to see her pancreas for himself impresses me tremendously. It's a very serious procedure and he just wants to be sure that this is the right thing to do for her now. I think this shows that he's very thorough and cautious. It sounds as though he takes his profession seriously and places appropriate value on her surgical options. I'm sure she realizes this. It's too bad that she has to go through the EUS alone, but we'll all be praying for her and our caring vibes should carry her through. I'm sure that by the time she gets home Saturday she's going to be one tired young woman. But I hope then she'll have done what they need to give her the go-ahead. Thanks so much, Lily, for sending us this update. I've been wondering all day long and so much wanting to know what happened. Thank you and , too, for taking the time away from your own families to reach out to help someone else in need. I hope your dad is going to be okay at home, Lily. Is your mom going to be able to take care of him or will this mean that you're going to be having to spend a lot more time traveling back and forth to help her? You are such an angel to do all of this. I'll be keeping you in my prayers that all of this " nursing " won't wear you out so that you will be able to get that much deserved break away during 's school break. You deserve it more than anyone I can think of. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep.
