Guest guest
, Well, it sure makes me feel a little better to know that I'm not the only one that this happens too. It can be downright embarrassing sometimes, especially when you're with " other people " . By that I mean, your doctor, some friends while shopping, getting up from the dinner table in a quiet, exclusive restaurant, getting out of the car, walking through the doctor's full waiting room, getting up from your seat in the movie theater, AT CHURCH....yikes, that's the worst! or sitting down in front of some clients whom you're trying to impress. My personal list goes on, those are just some of the most memorable occasions! The reason why I wrote about this now, along with my question about my enzymes, is that it has increased SO MUCH MORE during the last few weeks or months, that I really wanted to know if this could be some indication that I needed an enzyme adjustment. The failure to gain weight and the increased flatulance seem to go hand in hand. That's what I was trying to explain and maybe I just didn't explain it right. Sort of like: no weight gain + increased gas = not enough enzymes Or a need for a different enzyme? I appreciate everyone's comments on how well Viokase works for them, I guess what I was wanting to hear was that people had been able to replace lost weight on them, because it's not happening for me now with my Ultace MT20's, which I love, by the way. And I do understand the relationship between certain foods and flatulance. Didn't know that about strawberries, though, but I can't eat them anyway. But this is happening ALL THE TIME now, no matter what I eat, and often when I don't eat whatsoever. So maybe my doctor and I can talk this over next week and come up with a plan that will change this. You know that expression, " A woman can never be too rich or two thin " ? I'll tell you, I would only agree with the first part of that quote, and I'm not even sure that part's true, either!! With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Hello everyone, I can understand very well about flatulence. Especially after my whipple the odor was nasty, its very embarrasing. When I went back to work as an elementary school teacher you can imagine the situation that caused in the class. I've found that medicines like prilosec and zantac greatly reduce this problem. They cause the body to create less stomach acid. Rob
Guest guest
I know exactly how that is, though I sometimes have warnings that it's going to happen. However, stopping it is another issue. Trying to stop it creates such horrible pain and doesn't stop it either that it's just not worth trying to stop. I've told my mother, who stays with me a lot, it's gonna happen and way more often than I can say excuse me for, or I'd be saying that all day. I'll say , excuse the smell, but it's going to happen. I've tried phazyme, and all the other anti-flatulence pills and none of them work for me. So, I'm stuck with them. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
I understood your post regarding enyme replacement, although I don't have an answer for you about weight loss and enzyme replacement. I personally don't take enzymes, I have never felt like they helped with the pain. The only thing I ever used enzymes for was steatorrhea, if I had gone to the bathroom more than 3 times after (immediately after) eatting and lost gallons of water then I would take 3 and 2 lomtil, my physician prescribes this after many hospitalization from dehydration. I once got so dry it took 6 liters of fluid to get enough urine to give a urinalysis. I kept calling and telling them the diarrhea was out of control, I don't think they believed me, I am thankful to God that I did not go into kidney failure. The saying about to rich or to thin, I guess the rich thing for me is what you put your trust in, as for me and mine we do not put our trust in the riches of this world, of things that can whither away but we place our lives in one greater than us Jesus Christ, it is the only way for us.
