I posted this a few days ago, but haven't seen anyone respond to it.

I emailed Dr. R. but haven't heard from him either.

What effect does the surgery have on the kidneys? Do Kidneys require

that a certain amount of fluid pass thru them in order to remain

healthy? What about the bladder????

Thanks very much

Hi, I'm not sure about the how the kidneys or bladder work, but I

wanted to tell you that I have always been a huge water drinker. I

had my surgery seven days ago, and when I woke up from surgery, I was

REALLY thirsty. I just kept sipping and sipping and actually was able

to get down THREE pitchers of water while I was in the hospital(I was

released around 1:00pm the day after my surgery). I knew that the

water would help get the surgical meds out of my system, so I just

kept sipping almost constantly while I was awake. My urine was a

normal color(almost colorless)the day after I got out of the

hospital. I still sip constantly all day long, and even this morning,

I have already gotten down a large glass of grape juice mixed with

water. The liquids go through the stomach really fast. I really don't

think they stay in the stomach long at all. The first few days, I

could feel the water sort of gurgling through my system as I drank,

and it was sort of an uncomfortable feeling, but now it is about the

same as before surgery except that I don't drink as fast. Maybe this

information will help you.
