Finally - a glimmer of hope

Hi,

I just hung up from my Sr. benfits rep. She has been checking into

the coverage that I can choose from in November. I currently have

Cigna and they are a no go. Coventry also excludes WLS. But we can

choose an indemnity plan through CoreSource which is a higher cost to

me. It will include some WLS if it is medically necessary. I

certainly qualify for that. There are some clauses in the plan which

made my benefits rep. a little uneasy and unsure. There is something

in there about multiple surgeries, that didn't make sense to her.

She is going to clarify the meaning. She promised me she would get

something in writing assuring me I would be covered before I choose.

I asked her if we had the " cheapest " plan Cigna had to offer, she

said no we actually have the high end plan. I asked her to check

with our Corporate legal dept. to question if they think Cigna is

discriminating against me, since morbid obesity is a disability. I

told her that they may be putting the company at risk, if they were

offering an unfair plan I also asked her to find out from her Cigna

Sales rep, if there is a different contract to choose from. She has

been great, but I am not naive, I know she has her job to do and that

includes keeping the cost down for the company.

I hate to get my hopes up but maybe just maybe I can do the dance

early next year. I started researching this in January and went to

my clinic on February 19th. I even had the now un-needed psych exam.

February 2001 doesn't seem so far away, if I get approved. Does

anyone know much about indemnity plans? It sounds like the old way

of doing things. I can choose my DRs. I pay 20% and 80% is covered.

Please pray that this works out for me. I am really starting to feel

the affects of my co-morbidities and I find myself getting very

depressed, even though I already take Prozac. Boy do we bare our

souls to each other.

I have been without a computer at home. It made me realize how

addicting this list is. I am at work, and I can't help but logging

on to check what is going on. I am so afraid I will miss something.

Thanks to everyone, this is a great place to vent.

No its the only Ins. my husbands workplace offers, and because of my weight

and being a smoker I can't afford it privately.
