Hello again Sonja,

It might just be helpful to say a few things :

In 1988 I had a false, or possibly partial, doagnosis of coeliac

disease. This requires a gluten-free diet. The diet did seem to help

a great deal even though to-day I am told I probably don't have

coeliac disease after all; it's definitely CP!! Anyway.....the

gluten-free diet. This is a relatively common diet to-day. You have

to eliminate mainly all foods containing wheat, even " hidden " in

thickenings in soup or sauces, as well as bread, biscuits, cakes

etc. There is a very good range of gluten-free foods available to-

day, including bread, cakes, pasta, flour mixes etc. I'd say it's

probably worth trying. Rice and potatoes are fine.

It's better to avoid fried foods and foods with a high fat content.

Small meals are better. Foods high in carbohydrate are fine if you

are not diabetic. A lot of CP patients find that they cannot eat red

meat; others are OK.

Creon is great but I would think it could alter any stool test you

do. Have you discussed this with your doctor? Fat in the stools is

caused by malabsorption. Creon is taken to improve digestion and

should eliminate (or almost) the malabsorption. I'm not sure how you

could then do a stool test. However, this is something to check with

the docs. Fruit and veg are generally excellent although some people

may find some fruits a bit too acidic.

I have read that increased hunger, as well as thirst, can sometimes

be a sign of approaching diabetes. I was quite shocked to read

Heidi's comments about ice-cream. I have NEVER had a sweet tooth but

for a few months now I have been hooked on a low fat, non-dairy

Swedish (!!!!) glace dessert. (They call it " Swedish " but it

probably has nothing at all to do with sweden! Just sounds more

glamorous!) It tastes like the most delcious ice-cream! I actually

eat it with strawberry sauce. I am expected by my docs to be

diabetic very soon. It sounds as though I could be reacting as Heidi

did before she became diabetic. I also have other signs that Heidi

had....I think....such as tingling etc. in toes. I keep having

myself checked for diabetes.

I hope that is helpful and that you soon find a good new specialist.

With good wishes,

Fliss
