Guest guest
Hi everyone! Wow, there are so many new people here trying for this wonderful surgery! Don't get discouraged, keep moving forward even if it is one tiny step at a time....the end results will be worth it. I had my surgery 8/17 and saw my dr yesterday. I am a diabetic and have high blood pressure. At this time I am not taking any blood pressure meds. I have lost 16 pounds. This morning my blood sugar was 154!!!!!! It hasn't been that low in years....even with taking 3 different kinds of medicine!! I was just about in tears standing there staring at the glucometer reading. I can't imagine what my life will be like without constantly having to worry about what I am eating and being so discouraged because no matter what I do my blood sugars and weight just keep climbing. I feel like I am finally being set free from my prison. I had read on this board before about someone comparing this journey to becoming a butterfly, coming out of their cacoon. That truly is what this feels like. The day before surgery when I walked out of Dr. Rutledge's office on my way to the clinic...I saw 2 huge monarch butterflies as soon as I stepped out the door. I told my husband " God just sent those to me, just to let me know everything is going to be ok, and I am going to emerge a butterfly too. " Today I truly feel this magical journey is going to actually happen for me the same as I have seen so many other post ops write about. I am so very thankful to my God and to Dr. R for this wonderful new chance at life. If I can be of any help to any of you by being a contact or answering any questions please feel free to email me.
