The journey begins.

I am new to the list and have already found out so much. My name

is Melody and I am from Broken Arrow (tulsa), Ok. I am 28yrs old and know

I weigh over 350lbs but do know exactly how much. I have been think abt

surgery for a while now.

I would have made the move sooner but I had a Dr. that didnt

approve. He had me trying all kinds of things. He sd he wanted to do

other things first then we would talk abt the surgery. After a year of

nothing I had had enough. I told him I wanted the surgery and he sd he

didnt agree. I then called and old Dr. I used to have and loved but had to

leave because the insurance I had at the time didnt cover him (this one does).

I got into the office and told him what I wanted. He promptly

said he had anther patient that he was working w/ that was post-op and

would have her call me. He then sd he wld start on the approval procees

and do whatever it took pre-op. We talked abt all the ins and out,

options, alternatives, and so on. He was wonderful.

I few days later I got a call from his other patient na. She

gave me Dr. R's site and talked for sometime abt what she went thru and why

she chose Dr. R vs the doc here in town. She gave me some hints and

reminders and told me to feel free to call her anytime. She also said she

was more than willing to meet me and my boyfriend to answer any questions

we might have.

I have already started on the packet and will prob have it

together by the end of the month. I am so glad there is this group to help

with the support as well. I am truly amazed how friendly and close you all

seem. I am looking forward to this.

My first question however is this. I know I weight more than

350lbs bcs that is the max of the scale at the Dr's ofc. Does anyone have

any idea where I can go to get a more accurate weight? I have a call into

my Dr for help on this but he has been out of the office and unavailable.

Again, I look forward to getting to know everyone on here and

some day being post op.
