Watching the super bowl reminded me of the last time the Patriots were in the

game. I saw that one from my hospital bed at s Hopkins recovering from my

whipple. I am reminded how lucky I am, and feel a responsibility to tell

everyone there is hope. Nine months after that surgery I returned to work as an

elementary school music teacher. It was tough at first but I got through it. I

worked part time in the summer and returned to teach full time this year. As

long as I take my enzymes I do great. I have not had pain or an attack since I

recovered from the surgery. My financial situation after years of being ill

although not by any means great, well at least I can go to bed know that the

lights will still be on in the morning and the basics are taken care of. For

everyone here who is struggling, hang in there, pray and have people pray for

you.

Even though I don't post often I think of everyone here often. I have gone

through what you have and I want you to know there is hope. I know that the

financial pressures of life make it even tougher to be ill. The fact that many

docs, particullarly ER docs, lack of understand of our illness doesn't make any

easier. Also the need for constant pain medication causes many professionals to

look on us junkies. It is a great burden for all who bear it. I was fortunate

to get to s Hopkins not because I had money, in fact my insurance didn't

cover that hospital, it was thanks to one doc at Jefferson in Phila who took

the time to take on the hmo and the day before the surgery it was approved. I

share these things not to gloat but to let you know there is hope. If I can help

anyone please send me a message. There are so many wonderful people on this

board who gave me support when I was at wits end, who shared knowledge and

experience people i've never met who helped me through some of the toughest days

of my life. I will keep praying for all of you.thank you for listening to my

rambling and if there is anything I can offer anyone I will do my best.

Sincerely,

Rob
