got Synagis too! She wasn't a premie but the winter after her dx she got

Synagis to prevent RSV. Good thing too. She was sick enough, she didn't need

RSV too!

Can anyone tell me what RSV is. Abd what are the symptoms? It is going

around our state at the moment. Eilish and Liam are both not well this

weekend, although I think Eilish is faking it. We have just had heaps

of hail, which our gardens look white, so we went outside to take a

photo. The kids think it's snow, having never seen snow before. I hope

it stops as I am due to drive into town for dinner tonight while

baby sits the kids.

RSV is at it's worse pnuemonia as the broncial tubes swell .It is a Very Bad

Nasty cold at the least.Rhinal synctial virus (sp?) .Rebekah had it as did 2

of my other (healthy kids it made them turn blue around their lips and fight to

breath of course it happened during a blizzard) with Rebekah she had scarring

of her airways and it took her 3 years not to be a wheezy baby it was nasty.

I believe they have shots called synagis for preemies .Look in the archives

for RSV the posts were older I'm not sure if we were at Yahoo back then but some

of those files before we came here are in the archives.BeckyB.-Mama to

Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It is a lower respiratory illness that is

dangerous to infants up to age 2 I believe. Older children and Adults

can get it but it presents as a milder respiratory illness. Symptoms in

babies are fever, coughing, wheezing in older kids it may look like flu

or cold with respiratory issues. My daughter got the vaccine, synagis,

last year and we have put in for it again this year. It is a monthly

shot that they give during the late fall and through winter into spring.

Hope this info helps. I know a lot of kids in our area are hospitalized

with it each year and those are kids without CF.

Good luck,

Mom to Ellie 9mo /wCF and Jack 3yo /woCF
