I would like to try SCD as a family. I feel it will be a great help

for my children. My older son (8) has been diagnosed with Bipolar

Disorder - NOS with psychotic features, ADHD, and Oppositional

Defiant Disorder. He was hospitalized four times last year and

continues to have hallucinations off and on. My younger son (5) has

been diagnosed with ADHD and Bipolar Disorder is suspected (no

psychiatrist will officially diagnose because of his age). They both

have severe bahavior problems. No form of discipline has worked in

the past.

Most of the parents on here are dealing with ASD or gut problems.

My children have neither, allthough (5) has been complaining

of a belly ache lately. However some parents have mentioned

improvements in ADHD. Am hoping it will help at least with that.

My problem is that (8) raids the kitchen during the night.

He eats half gallon of ice cream, six frozen waffles, etc. He has

also almost doubled his weight in the last year (he was underweight

to begin with) due to overeating and carb cravings caused by psych

meds.

I know that if all illegal foods were removed and only legal choices

were available, it would be much easier. Not to mention only one set

of meals to cook (what a concept! LOL). The big problem, however is

talking my husband into it. He likes the foods I cook for supper

(SCD legal), but has made comments about how it amazes him that I

have been able to stick to it. I'm afraid he will flat out refuse.

Does anyone have any tips on how to talk an adult with no apparent

need for SCD to follow it? Sorry this is so long, but though some

background would help (the venting didn't hurt either lol). Thanks!
