When I went to have a Whipple done in March this year, the surgeon

cut me open and found masses of desmoid tumors (my body doesn't know

to stop building scar tissue, hence massive tumors form). They were

all over my pancreas, duodenum, liver, spleen, kidney, in my small

intestine, and I have 2 large ones in my abdominal wall, which are

pressing on my bladder..they are really bothersome. I also have a

large one growing on my sternum (upper chest area) and they hurt

like crazy..so the two big ones and the chest one are coming out.

They will have to rebuild my abdomen using mesh as I will be losing

some muscle along with the tumors. These stupid things don't have

any known cure that works the same for everyone. Surgery will get

rid of them for now, but have a 70% chance of growing back.

My little girl is 2 1/2 years old. I usually have a memory like a

sieve, so I am surprised that I remembered everything..it gets

annoying though when I get home from the docs and think of lots of

other questions to ask that would be helpful. My surgery is set for

whenever I want it. My surgeon told me to give him a call, so will

be having it as soon after the new year as possible...They couldn't

pull up enough small intestine for my whipple to be done as there

were too many tumors in it, and if they cut those ones, I risked

bleeding to death...the woes of it all *L*
