Guest guest
Hurricane Hugo was probabaly the most terrifying night of my life. We chose to stay in out home in McClellanville. We could hear the surge. I counted 7 tornadoes; I help my daughter so tightly through the night that the rosary I had in my hands had made a deep impression on her tummy. We had a mattress and surrounded the chimney on the first floor. We fared very well by comparison of most. Had some windows blow, some roof; the houses foundation held and that the most important. OUr driveway is 800' long and it took us 3 days to dig out. I remember the radio station that was reporting on how people fared in evacuation centers. My parents were in Moultrie Middle school; and I had heard it lost a large section of roofing but no casualties. My parents house in on the harbor in Mt. Pleasant and my inlaws are in the IOP. My inlaws house was destroyed, and my parents lost the entire bottom floor. But that was some Christmas gift we got that year. Even with the snow laying upon broken and twisted trees and houses with the beginnings of rebuiling it was beautiful. A beautiful gift from God. Yeah we have lots of photos too. I dont think there will be many white Christmas's in the south. I'm trying to feel better; took a long walk with my dogs and tossed the ball a bit. Cooking a good dinner in my sparkling clean, even the oven, kitchen. I have to go back to work on the 15th so I need to get my land legs back.
