Guest guest
Hi Chrissy! Sounds like a great opening sentence! Wish I'd thought of it1 Yes, he did buy some books....very odd taste! He taught classics....Greek and Latin....and tends to buy books about the ancient world, Egyptian, greek, Roman, New Testament etc. I'll just mention by b'day pressie, though it's off subject! At Covent Garden we found a lovely little silversmiths selling individual jewellers' work. Jim found a beautiful silver pendant made out of Roman glass found near Jerusalem. The jeweller in question takes pieces of the ancient glass (so each pendant is individual) and sets it into a silver surround. It is really ususual and looks Roman too! It's round and also has a tiny pearl hanging from it. I love it! Jim will be 60 next birthday (April). I've already arranged a meal with him the Friday before but this is because his (male!) friends wish to take him out to dinner and I have to make sure, without telling him, that he's properly dressed to go out! I'll have to be dresed to go out and then stay at home!! Or else I'll have to make a separate arrangement with all the wives! We'll do the real celebration a bit late because (son) is planning a month in Peru before he starts work (at last!) in May. As soon as he's back, the boys will plan a night out in London again but they and my lovely daughter-in-law will be with us this time. Ballet " Giselle " might be on!! I'll have to check the dates. I have to say that Jim would ALWAYS prefer a quiet meal with the family to anything else....and in a simple restaurant too. He generally hates big parties.....except for one which I insisted on in 1999 for our 30th wedding anniversary.....and he loved it! (other son) plays violin and organised a group to sing and play all evening. I don't think I could face organising that sort of party now, I'm afraid. Perhaps in the summer. Well, back to THAT SUBJECT. Sorry if the stent is blocking. What will they do? You must have a good doc, Chrissy; he's got things moving pretty quickly, hasn't he? I wish I could be in Cin when you are on the way to recovery. I'd love to go to the US some day. A friend of mine has just spent half-term in New York. Seems a long way to go just for a week but that's an old-fashioned view, I suppose. Both my sons have been to the US but we haven't! Typical! Take care and keep up that cheerfulness. You're inspirational! I had an e-mail from Sue this morning. She's done more in the last week (in the house) than I could ever possibly do .....even if I'd never been ill, never mind had a TP!
