Guest guest
After three days on the intro diet, we began giving our son cooked, peeled apples (cooked with cider, honey and cinnamon). For the initial 3 days on the intro diet, and 2 days with apple added, he had well-formed stools that weren't all that smelly. This morning I added almond muffins and just a little while ago (4pm) he passed a formed but soft stool that was pretty smelly. Do you think the almond muffins could have had an impact so quickly (he has had 4 today), or is there a possibility he had too much apple? He had apples for 1 snack and with each meal. , mom of Jack 4yr, ASD, new to SCD
Guest guest
, Welcome to the list! Almond flour should not be introduced immediately following the intro diet. It is too difficult to digest. Also, 4 muffins is too many for a child. The limit for a child is the equivalent of 2 muffins per day (this includes the nut flour that would be in muffins, cookies, cakes, pancakes or bread). SCD is not meant to be a diet that is high in nut intake. So, please remove the muffins, go back and introduce more easy-to-digest foods. Peeled and cooked fruits and veggies are the best things to introduce after the intro diet. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
After a few days on SCD, you would actually typically expect changes in the stool, including " smelliness " , or things like various colors, grainy, speckly, stringy.... any of the above.... as signs that bad gut pathogens were dying off and taking their leave. His system probably needs to detoxify... or you would not be on SCD in the first place. So look at this as a sign of GOOD changes. Almond flour definitely would contribute to a softer stool. Four muffins sounds like way too many to start with.
