Guest guest
I looked magnesium stearate up for you in my copy of A Consumer's Dictionary of Food Additives by Ruth Winter, M.S. (I have the 5th Edition). And all it said was " Miscellaneous uses as a migratory substance from packaging materials, stabilizer, defoaming agent, anticaking agent. See Magnesium. " This surprised me since many of the entries in the book have incredibly long lists of all the ways that they are used, and a majority of the entries have detailed info on how much research has been done and what theories or concerns exist on each item. The entry on Magnesium is fairly long, so I won't type it out for you here. But if you can borrow the book from your library or even just read the one entry at a bookstore, you might get some ideas or understanding on the situation. I would say that a person can develop a sensitivity to anything. But I do find it surprising to hear of this theory of your doctor's. Unless you are very dissatisfied with him (worrying that he is not doing you any good), look into it further rather than dismissing it. I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with this possibility. That is so frustrating to have to worry about and possibly quit using the products that you had come to think of as safe and useful while you were already doing your homework and avoiding so many other things that most people (and most of the food and supplement companies) would not consider avoiding; (and limiting yourself so much as to what to buy--boy, aren't we doing a hard job for our health and our kids health?!)
