Guest guest
Hey there , Welcome to our family! Although saddened at the reason why we are all here it truly is wonderful knowing one is not alone. My name is Peg, I am Mom and caregiver to my son Brandan who was diagnosed in 2000 with Chronic Pancreatitis with Pancreas divisum, he had the Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Cell Transplant(Transfer) in Aug,2002. Brandan was a patient in Rhode Island when this nightmare started he was a patient at the Hasbro Childrens Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He had many ERCP's performed by Dr. Ackerman I believe this was his name will have to check my records at the Rhode Island hospital. I am here and willing to help in anyway I can, please feel free to write me personally at my email for sometimes the posts seem to pile up... : ) To start the best thing to do is steer clear of all alcohol, including ones in cooking and in cough syrup and such, also very low fat diet. Don't let the idea that you got the evil eye when you mentioned that you don't really drink, trust me I got the same look when my 14 yr old. was diagnosed in 2000. Keep lots of records and make sure you document if you can your pain and the different levels if you can, also what helps to make you comfortable. I have kept records of Brandan for 4 years now and it helps immensely when having to deal with new doctors or medical personnel. Please let me know how things are going and if I can be of help. As always keeping you and yours in our thoughts and prayers...Keep smiling (cuz sometimes its all one can do!) TTFN...: ) Peg Bates Brwnbare9@... Massachusetts State Chapter Rep.
