Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Thanks Heidi for the responses to my posts, and to Debs too, and everyone else. I am going to talk to my doctor about upping the dosage on the duragesic patch. The job I applied for will require a drug screen, and that is why I had been trying to cut down to see if I could handle the pain. I am not sure if asking for the morphine would be right in my case because the demerol seemed to work better for me in the hospital than the morphine. Even when I was on the morphine pills, they didn't seem to help unless I took more than what was prescribed. I am going to bring the printouts of the posts to show the doctor. I am beginning to feel like I am being viewed as a junkie or something when I tell them I am in serious pain and the stuff they have me on doesn't cover it. Debs, what is the fast release morphine you were talking about? I think the morphine didn't help much for breakthrough pain because it was time released. The ultram really caused stomach problems for me, even before I was told I had pancreatitis. I couldn't convince the pain clinic doctors of that. They seemed to have one goal in mind, and that was getting me off the other pain meds, and not really helping me. I have also asked for valium, because it is so difficult not to snap at my kids when I am in pain, and they are acting like " kids. " It is not fair to them, and it is not me. I have a lot of patience with my kids, and to hear me raise my voice is very out of character. The doctor gave me something, which I can't remember what the name of it is right now.. one of those new meds, that have to be in your system for a couple of weeks before they really start to work. Tried it for two months and no improvement, just poorer. I raised the question about steriods before because I had been pretty healthy until I had a skull fracture and they put on a lot of steriods. Then out of the blue I got diabetes. 11 kids in my family and no history of it anywhere. A nurse told me about the connection of steriod use with transplant patients and diabetes. I am curious if there might also be a connection with steriods and pancreatitis. Mine is caused by high triglycerides, which I am told is rare.
