Guest guest
According to the health staff at Sentator Ted Kennedy's office, what you state is a myth, as most states have put caps on the punitive dama ges that patients can receive, and mostly only the quite well-to-do are doing the suing; no one on Medicare, Medicaid (Medi-Cal here), SSI, or SSDI, by and large is responsible for these settlements. The largely go to the very well-off. Proportionately, Canadians sue also, but as there are only about 30 million of them, the effect on their economy is different. If universal health care (using any known system) were provi ded, there would be arbitration and no law-suits. For example in large HMO's (which I am not endorsing here), except for great disasters in the care, there is always binding arbitration.
