Guest guest
Is there anyone in the UK who is using an insulin pump? I have had type 1 diabetes since my total pancreatectomy in 2000. I have injections of Humalog insulin prior to meals, and Lantus at night. I have read quite a lot of information about insulin pumps, and wondered how you go about changing over to a pump in the UK. I have mentioned this to my Diabetes Nurse Specialist, and i was told that that, at present, pump therapy isn't available in my area, as none of the nurses had yet received any training. I understand that in the UK, in some areas there is also a problem with funding, as the consumables need to come from the GP's budget. I'm a nurse, and work shifts, including nights, and therefore have irregular meal times etc, and from what i have read about insulin pumps, i think i would benefit from this. If anyone has any information, i would be grateful. Thank you. Sue
