Dear Laurie,

It may be that you will never know why this doctor has suddenly reversed his

diagnosis, unless he is confronted with the facts (which would be in your

records) of how he determined what was wrong back in September, and why

now in January he has determined he was wrong. Please note that I said " he

was wrong " , because you certainly aren't. I don't believe there is anything a

patient can do to " make " a doctor perform procedures, the decision to

operate or do these type of procedures is initiated by the doctor, not the

patient. Or did you just walk into his office, twist his arm and say " I want

you

to do three ERCP's and put stents in because I have pancreas divisum and I

just love to be hospitalized! " . Of course not.

First of all, you need to get another opinion of your condition from another

specialist immediately. Then I would also suggest that you get a good

attorney who is experienced in medical malpractice. Get the facts from your

records and take it from there. Report what has happened to the state

medical review board. If this " competent doctor " is recommending and

performing procedures on people and then months later changing his mind

and stating that the procedures weren't necessary, this activity needs to be

reported and investigated. For all you know, you may not be the only patient

that he has done this to. It may even be that he is having some sort of

mental breakdown that you are unaware of, but whatever is wrong, his

behavior needs to be reviewed immediately.

For yourself, though, since you are still in pain and need treatment, you need

to find another specialist that you can trust to take care of you and get to the

bottom of your actual medical diagnosis.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi
