Guest guest
Dear Fred, I apologize for sounding repetitive, and asking questions that you'd already answered. I read your message from last night first, and responded before I'd read through the later messages. It was reassuring, though, to see that my comments were so closely matched to Karyn's. It shows that our thoughts paralelled each other as to what we felt could be solutions for your wife's problems. Even though your wife is already taking Lipram, it very well may be time for an increase in dosage. As our condition deteriorates and the pancreas produces less and less enzymes on it's own, we often find that an increase in supplements is needed. My GI has had to increase my enzymes twice just in the past six months. I am now taking 6 Ultrase MT20's with each meal, which amounts to120,000 units lipase, and 139,000 units each of amylase and protease. Of course this amount is adjusted for my personal need, and each patient's needs may be different. The prescription for Prevacid is also a recent addition to my pharmaceutical load. We find that as chronic pancreatitis continues it's progressive destruction, re-evaluation of our enzymes, pain meds and products to promote motility are a necessary part of our health care treatment. That's why it's important to keep in close contact with a specialist on a regular basis. Keep in touch as you need to, and let us know how we can help. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
