Guest guest
Dear Tammy, You have come to the right place, and we'll try to help you however we can. I know the shock of an acute pancreatitis takes some time to wear off, both physically and mentally. There are so many new questions, and terrible, unfamiliar pain that seems relentless in it's intensity. Do you have a gastroenterologist? That's a first step for your care, is to locate a specialist who can test you and treat you if you continue to have pain. Many people that have an acute attack only have one, that then they recover, never to have problems again. Others have one, then another, and then they find that the pancreatitis has become a chronic condition and they need to be under the treatment of a specialist for the rest of their lives. It's a bit early to tell where you fit into this. Did the doctor's tell you what the cause of your attack was? That may have a lot of bearing on whether or not your condition becomes chronic. Another thing that concerns me is what you called your high blood count. What lab test showed a level of 2014? Blood glucose, white blood cell count, or what? It might help if you could clarify what lab that was. If you can get an appointment with a gastroenterologist, he or she should be able to prescribe some pain medication for you that would help with the pain that you're experiencing. I'm very surprised that the doctors didn't prescribe something for you to take home when you were discharged from the hospital, or make arrangements for follow-up with a specialist. Quite often all the inital testing, i.e; x-rays, ultrasound, CT-scans, comes back negative. It takes a specialist to work with you and continue testing until the cause is clear and they discover why your symptomatic pain is continuing. Right now it would be best for you to follow a strict, low-fat diet, try not to consume more than 20 grams of fat each day. Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated. You said that you don't drink, so it won't be difficult to avoid all alcohol. Please post again and let us know about your doctor situation. That needs to be resolved first, so you can get some help. The only thing they> are telling my is my blood count is high (2014)but they cant find anything else with x-rays, Ultra sound or a catscan. It has been about a week since I have been out of the hospital and I am hurting so bad.
