Guest guest
Holly, I agree with Flo on her comments to you during your stage of anticipation. I too, have lost 25 lbs. in only 3 weeks. That is not slow neither! That already makes two of us with firsthand experience and recent surgeries that know from our own experience that pain is little or none at all. I haven't even had my prescription for the pain meds that Dr. R. prescribed for me following 24 hours upon my surgery, and my release from the hospital for a major abdominal surgery! To elaborate even further, 24 hours upon my release from the hospital, my daughter and I drove non-stop back to Alabama, 481 miles and 6 hours away from Durham, N.C. and with no complications. Within 48 hours of being back home, I had my staples removed by my local physician that was totally amazed at the healing process that had already begun. You couldn't ask for a more skilled AND CARING Doctor to perform the procedure, which only took him 24 minutes to perform on me, nor a more caring staff to assist, including the nurses at the hospital, nor a more supportive group than the group located right here. No one is trying to talk you into this surgery. Only YOU must decide to either live with and accept your body forever as it is, or to make up your mind to have this done, fully realizing the risks and the benefits involved. Every single person is different, with different metabolisms, as well as the different side effects that take shape with each individual. No one can promise you that you will not have pain. Some will and some won't. There are no guarantees, however, based on Dr. R's track record, it is more than likely that you won't have major complications. No matter how well you may do, there are going to be some minor adjustments in the best scenario given. If you can accept that your body and your life are going to make a major metamorphosis, then maybe this surgery could help you greatly. If you can't overcome the fears you are having about it, you may need to reconsider other options. Either way, I wish you the best of luck and happiness, regardless. Sincerely, Donna Cline MGB 7/15/00 267/242 GO Orange!
Guest guest
Hi Donna, Where in Alabama are you from? I'm from Monroeville and will be having surgery next Friday. I hope that I do as well as you! You are so right about everyone being different, but I just came from obesityhelp.com and those poor folks that have open suffer so much. I'm thankful to be going lap! Stormy
