Guest guest
I called our pulmonary team today to see if Abby's culture from her bronch Wed. had grown anything. They called back and said the right lung grew only normal flora however the left has grown a low population (#1) of gram neg. rods. This was a fellow who called me back - not one of the big dawgs but he said it could be - something besides Pa - but I can't remember what he called it. It's known for being intermittant and is common in CF. Knowing she's grown the Pa 3 times - once from bronch before tune up at diagnosis and twice more consecutively from throat after 2 clean throat cultures - I guess that's probably what it is. I wasn't happy to hear it but I'm not surprised. I'm thankful it was a low population and there's still a chance it won't be Pa although I'm not getting my hopes up. Friday they'll have it fully identified and we'll see what the team wants to do about it. She remains totally asymptomatic for which I am also thankful. She's a chunky little doll-baby.
