My temp has gone up and stayed at 100.7 most of today. Worrisome to

me because when I took my shower today, I stood in front of the

mirror in my bathroom and (having a bit of a belly) lifted my belly

up, to actually see where I had been cut and to clean it gently.

Well, I can say that the nurses had not been cleaning my cut

completely, and I know for a fact that they had not changed my gauze

for 2 days, I ended up doing it myself, and had to wash myself twice

without help, as they put the cloths in the room, and then left and

never came back, so I did the best I could without a mirror, one

hand and not knowing where exactly I was cut..well, the smell was

putrid, white gunky stuff with a bit of leakage oozed down my

staples, and it is very red ring around part of it, and the actual

stapled parts very bright white..of course I panicked, called the

surgeon, and got a call back that if I wasn't feverish, first thing

to wash the gunk away, rinse with water and dry it..then apply fresh

gauze..all of which I already had.

My drain has also pulled out an inch with a stitch attached to

it..think I may have accidently done that when I was stripping the

line. I am concerned that the fluid I am losing is increasing

greatly rather than going down..is supposed to be down to 30cc or

less but mine has gone from 80 to 100 to 115..and I don't know why.

So long as I don't develop fever and chills, they will keep me at

home until I have my checkup on Friday..then they'll tell me if

they're pleased or not...makes me wish I was given a flat tummy to

start off with then wouldn't have had this much problem...

I have been able to stretch out the pain meds to every 9-10 hours

though which is good..and have been able to do a bit more than

previous days..but hubby is still doing most of the work. Think i'll

keep him home for the rest of the week...kind of like having him

around me *L*

Take care,
