Guest guest
Kaye, I do not take HRT's as I am only 35. However, my periods are very irregular since the CP has gotten so bad. I have had only 3 periods in the last 12 months. I asked to put on the pill or something to regulate my periods, and I was ABSOLUTELY NOT! My regular thought maybe the ring would be okay but then we found out from the ob-gyn that even has estrogen. All of my dr's, Dr. Lo (panc spec.), Dr. Phan, (Internal meds, and primary dr) and the ob-gyn feel that the estrogen would be very bad for the pancreas. This is just what they feel and it may be different for other people but this what they feel in my situation. Have you thought about Estovan, it is over the counter. My mother takes this and she does have any problems with it. Good luck. Simi Valley, CA
Guest guest
Kaye, For the last seven years I have been taking Estroven, which is an over the counter hormone replacement supplement. Prior to that I was taking Premarin and " something else " ....the name now escapes me. I found that the OTC Estroven works just as well for me as the prescription HRT did, and is less expensive. As far as I can determine, it doesn't affect my pancreatitis at all. I've been on either prescription HRT's or OTC HRT's since I began early menopause in my late 30's and then everything stopped by the time I was 42....tens years ago, now. I did have a hormone test done earlier this year and found that the Estroven does keep my hormone levels just within the right range of wherever they're supposed to be. My doctor is aware of my previous history of phlebitis, first diagnosed when I was 14, and says that the Estroven is okay for me to continue. Hope this information helps you.
