Hi all, I need some advice, constantly has a sniffly nose and always

sounds clogged, its been going on for months, he seen an allergist and was put

on claritin and nasonex (which was last year) but it really didn't help. He

has been on it for almost a year and continues to sniff. He's allergic

to cats and dust mites so far but they won't proceed with further testing

until he gets 6 years old, that's another year to go. I took to the

pediatrician a couple days ago to make sure he wasn't sick, his lungs are clear

so

that was ruled out, he decided to change his meds to dallergy and flonase, well

its now 4 am and I just got back to sleep, he woke up at 3 am in

panic because his throat was closing off, I gave him a drink and he couldn't

even

drink that without major discomfort. It was very hard, he was crying. I was

trying very hard not to panic myself. I called his ped and he said benydrl? and

a steam session, I did the steam and it helped relax his throat, so now he

went back to sleep. I figure he was probably experiencing dry mouth from one of

the meds, I am going to quit that one for now until I can get him into the

doctors just to make sure. Ok how does one know if is actually not

suffering from sinus problems, the doctors are so quick to judge about it being

allergies, he has dark circles around the eyes and especially under the eyes, I

was told well Mrs. Pfeifle " he is going to have these kind of symptoms all the

time because he has cf, " " or those are just plain allergy shiners " Duh I know

but all the time? I just won't accept that as an answer. Can anyone tell me

about sinus problems, what are the characteristics of it? How does one know what

to look for? He is constantly stuffed up but not, there is no snot but he

always sounds clogged. The allergist checked for inflammation in the nose

throat,

etc., but there was none, don't you think there would be inflammation if it was

allergies? I don't get it. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas or advice, I

would greatly appreciate it. Thanks...... mommy of 5 years old

w/cf/adhd and 2 years old no cf
