Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, It's too bad you're feeling so poorly. I honestly believe that even top docs have different opinions about pancreatic surgery and other treatments. It may just be that this is a case in point. I'm sure your own specialist genuinely felt the TP could be a good option. When will you be speaking to your own local specialist again? I greatly respect my gastroenterologist AND the panc surgeon. One believes I need regular CT scans as part of the (admittedly imperfect)cancer monitoring process. The other believes this would expose me to too much radiation and must definitely be avoided! What does one do? This is just a small example of what you may also be facing now in a much more serious matter. On the other hand, when he sees the rationale for the Cin doc's view, your own specialist may well agree. In the end there may be no differnce of opinion. Have you long to wait before you see your own specialist? I know that longing for a normal life; it seems like everyone's right, doesn't it? If you had the Whipple instead of the TP, you would also have a good chance of being pain-free. Either operation can lead to the patient being pain-free. From what I've read, the majority of both types of surgery lead to success and pain reduction or total disappearance. You won't face diabetes if you have the Whipple, will you? I can just imagine how awful it is to have to wait now but the right time for action will come and I'm sure it will be the right action for your case. I'm so sorry you're suffering in the meantime.
