Guest guest
Hi Jill, Whilst I can't help with the nitro, as others have, I can tell you that an EUS is an endoscopic ultra sound. The only difference between that and an ERCP is the attachment on the tube that goes down the digestive tract. This attachment uses sound waves, and they produce a sphere of waves that makes blockages or strictures much easier to identify. Because of the angle of the sphere, the doctor can have an almost 360 degree view of the ducts or what he is looking at. That is how it was explained to me, but I may not be completely right. It is a generally safe procedure, and I think is not quite as invasive as a general ERCP...by that I mean there might be slightly less chance of an attack occuring after the EUS, than having a straightforward ERCP. If I am wrong, I do apologize.
