Hope to hear from some of you. Do you have a doctor? Have you stopped drinking? We all end up in the hospital at some time, many of us many times. Most of us take enzymes, and pain meds. We have psuedocysts, inflamed bile ducts, and endure ultrasounds, CT scans, and MRI's. We have specialized diets: no fats, no protein, high carbs and NO ALCOHOL! My CP was not alcohol related, it was high triglycerides. I also have high cholesterol. I'm on Pravachol and niacin. Mine was most likely hereditary. If you haven't stopped drinking, you need to. If you smoke, you need to quit. You need a diet plan. This is a hard row to hoe, but it's a wake up call and a lifestyle change. You almost probably will become a diabetic and that's a real probability. I'll be 52 on the 10th, so I know how this is scary. I hope you'll make the lifestyle changes needed to deal with CP. It's definitely not easy, but it's necessary. With prayers, Marcy Pile high the hickory and the light Log of chestnut struck by the blight Welcom in the winter night......... Guest guest
Hi Lin! I wanted to tell you that Ilook forward to getting to know you, although I'm sorry it's under these circumstances. I've had CP for about 10 years now. I'm one of the luckier ones b/c even though it continues to get worse, it's progressing much slower than most. I'm also fortunate not to be diabetic yet. I really watch my diet. The docs call my CP idiopathic, but are beginnig to think it's b/c of really narrow ducts. And I guess they spasm. Whatever the cause, this is a miserble illness & I'm so gratefull for the people on this board. My hope for you is that you aren't treated without compassion by health care workers since your CP is from alcohol. Mine isn't from alcohol use but I've been accused of being an alcohoic & a drug addict. You're going to find a lot of support & wonderful people here. I'm glad you found us, & let me know if there's any way i can be of help to you.
