Guest guest
We went to the ER tonight for another ear infection. This is his third since aug. 15th or maybe it has been the same one all along. I asked Zach's cf doc if we needed to treat his ear infections differently when he had his ear infection in august. He said that they treat ear infections the same as non cf kids - no different. Now I am thinking that longer courses of antibiotics might be the way to go. Zach is on Augmentin and ear drops for the first time. His mood changed a lot once he had the pain drops in his ear. He was like a new baby. I am calling my ped in the morning to figure out the fecal fat study problem and I may see if I can manage a perscription that is longer than ten days. We always bring Zach to their office on the tenth day and it is fine. Then it is back in a few days. He does not have anything coming out of his ears, so that is good. When we get the ENT referral I am going to see if they can culture any of the fluid in his ears. Does anyone know if they can do this if the fluid is not running out? I would like to see if he has something going on. Our cf clinic only cultures once a year, so this could give us a heads up. Thanks for all of your wonderful advice. I can't imagine trying to understand all of this on my own. Sara - mommy to Zach 19 months
