Guest guest
Chrissy, I stayed up an hour past when I should have last night waiting for the phone call. Finally, near 11, it rang and my son, , picked up the phone and read the caller ID (he knew what was going on), and called out, " Mom, here she is! " My husband was on a trip and had already called home twice last night checking to see if she had called. So it obviously was a much anticipated moment by all of us.....so fun! I didn't even ask about the date, yet. She was so excited and on such a high that we didn't even discuss it, knowing that we would have all of Christmas and the following weekend to talk about it. She absolutely loved the beautiful, unique designer ring that Chis' uncle, the jewelry designer, made. It's an emerald cut 2 carat diamond set in platinum, with 6 (12 altogether) slender, emerald cut sapphires bordering the diamond and running down each side of the band, with tiny oak leaf engravings along each side of the base of the band. It's exquisite and one of a kind.....just like her! Her birthstone is sapphires (her birthday's next week---she was our " tax deduction " in 1975) and Bob and I have given her some beautiful ones that we mined ourselves and had set into a ring, earrings and a necklace. This was back in the " pre-pancreatitis " days when we were able to get up in the mountains and camp and do that kind of thing. We found some beautiful gems; garnets, sapphires and clear, blue and purple amethysts that we had made into some gorgeous jewelry. Off topic, for sure, but it is exciting news and now I know I have to take really good care of my health so I can get through all this wedding business in 2004! My stomach starts to cramp up just thinking about it......or perhaps that was lunch? Thanks for asking. I hope you're able to enjoy this beautiful day! I'm off in an hour to drive the two hour round trip to my doctor's to pick up a new medication script. Not really what I'd like to be doing today, but necessary if I want to get through the holidays.
