Ashauna,

If he is interested in what you are eating, I would try giving him that. Of

course avoid the problem foods, eggs, nuts, honey, ? I don't remember them

all.... soft cheeses.... Have you tried a food mill? This is better for

getting a smoother more even texture.

If he has that much rice cereal in his formula, it makes sense that he isn't

drinking so much. The purpose of adding cereal is to fill them up faster,

that way they may not have as much reflux. Most doctors don't know this and

think it is to make it thick and keep it down.

As far as the test for reflux, Colgan would probably reflux on the test, but

the upper GI test is to make sure there isn't a more serious underlying

problem like an obstruction. It isn't as much to see if there is reflux.

We were told at this age that there is a " window " as well for feeding

themselves. It is a time where they naturally try it, and if you wait too

long, you might have trouble later. Rice krispies worked well for this. They

pretty much melt in their mouth. At this age they are putting things in

their mouth and developing the pincer grasp.

Is he interested in a cup? You could try the sippy cup for small amounts if

you haven't already, just to get him used to it. A bit of juice or not so

thick formula.... We gave Henry apple carrot juice in the baby version,

gerber makes it I think. We now give him VRUIT. You don't have to give baby

juice, just make sure it is 100%.

good luck,
