Guest guest
Heidi I know what you are saying about radiologists. I had an ultrasound about 2 weeks ago and the radiologist said the exam was technically difficult and " distal portion of pancreas not visualized. " Well no kidding! I don't have a distal pancreas. This was even on the order that I don't have a distal pancreas/post distal pancreatectomy. Also, a year ago I had a CT scan done and the radiologist noted that my gallbladder appeared to be " unremarkable " . I think the fact that I don't have one is quite remarkable! I think you may be right about them relying too much on previous reports and not looking closely at the current films. Another problem at my hospital is that they have rent-a-docs since there is a shortage of radiologists. Perhaps asking that a second radiologist look at the films would be a solution. When I called them to tell them the error regaurding the gallbladder they were extremely appologetic and another Dr re-read the film and made an addendum to the original report.
