Guest guest
Sorry, but this is a somewhat long story...I will try to do the nutshell version. We have seen two gastro doc's and have more questions then answers! My husband( age 25) had acute pancreatitis in June of last year. We were sent home form er with instructions to rest for 3 days. He never seemed to quite recover from that(pain with eating etc), when he had another attack 6 weeks later. Again we were sent home from the er with instruction to rest for one week. Once again he suffered through pain and fatigue for about 6 weeks when he got another attack(following a beer). This time he quit his job and rested for about two months. We stopped eating meat, and alcohol was sworn off forever. We were sent to a gatro doc the 3rd time. They did a cat scan/ultrasound of gallbladder, and MRI. There was nothing unusual. They said " no alcohol " , and cut us loose. He was still having occasional pain when we went to another doctor in December. They ordered bloodwork and a cat scan. They said everything looked fine, and to take Lipram cr-20, and let them know how that worked. We tried to tell these docs that he had been having gastro symptoms for years that appear to run in his family. Belching with almost every other bite of food/intollerance to vitamins/going to the bathroom..alot. Gallstones also run in his family, but every doctor refuse a hidascan.(wasn't nessasary, they said) He has been taking the pills with meals, and they help somewhat with the uncontrollable belching....but have started to lose their effectivness. When I called to doc to see if he should take 3 instead of two....they left an answer on our machine saying to stop taking them when the pills are gone. That was it. Does anyone who had pacreatitis in tha past have this bechilg with food/ coffee/ vitamins? Does anyone have any input on the enzyme pills? I though he would have to take those forever....when he doesn't take them he can barely catch a breath between the air coming up! Any advice/info is helpful...no matter how small. This is so confusing and frustrating for us. Our insurance expires in a week....so we are going to have to work this out on our own......
