Hi Susiecue,

Lucy here, I too, have frequent bleeding, just like you described, lot of bright blood and occasional clots. I have had colonoscopy, and lower gi and they did not find anything but diverticulitis '

or lotis or something, it just was not inflammed when they did the test. I definitely do have

the outside hemrrohoids and I have noticed that I have the bleeding when I am unusually stressed or taking antibotics. I think the biggest thing is the hemorrhoids.

I hope this helps some.

Love and Prayers, Lucy

-- Another ER visit

Well, I wound up in the ER again last night. Went to the bathroom & started bleeding rectally. Each time I wiped the paper was full of blood & clots. They did blood work & my blood count was 14.7. They put a tube down through my nose & there was no stomach bleeding so they sent me home telling me to come back if it starts up again. They think it might have been a hemorrhoid but there was blood everywhere. Thursday I had very very dark brown or black watery stool. They did call the Dr. from the hospital & my gastro guy & since I did not have any active bleeding in the stomach they could have kept me for observation & repeat the blood count in 6 hours but why bother. If there would have been bleeding they would have put me in ICU & done emergency upper & lower scopes.

They still don't know about the lump in my face. I just don't know what to do anymore. I remember seeing a post a while back about someone that had bleeding & symptoms were masked because of the pred. I told them about the RP & high dose pred. They just don't know about the disease. This is so frustrating. I am off the Salsalate which I have been taking for the arthritis. My PCP was not real keen on me being on this with the pred because of the chance of a stomach bleed.

Just wanted to update you on the latest fun in my life.

WEll, went to the PCP yesterday to try to sort things out. She thinks the pain in the back is muscular so I am going to the chiropractor. She thinks the ankle is my achilles tendon. Didn't say anything about the swellin which is really terrible. She checked my oxygenation because she didn't like the way I was breathing & it seemed to be all right. She sent me downstairs for a chest x-ray & when I brought it up something was squished by my trachea so she sent me to the ER for a CAT scan. WEll, since I didn't bring the x-rays with me they did another set & they were normal so not CAt scan & I was there for 5 1/2 hours. This is getting old real fast.

The ER guy was very concerned about the amount of edema I have. This is major swelling. My BP was also elevated which it hasn't been in a long time. I am having such a hard time breathing. Even just sitting in the recliner I'm huffing & pugging. You can hear it when I talk which is what the PCP was so concerned about even though everything sounded clear.

I have to go back to the eye guy for a special test to check for edema in the eye & also because on the way to the Dr. yesterday at two stop lights I saw 2 red lights on top of each other & 2 green lights same thing. The last time I had double vision it was side by side. I also have to see the ENT about the wierd vertigo which is making me dizzy.

I am getting scared because the Dr. said the RP is progressing much more rapidly than they expected. Does this mean I'm going downhill fast? They are praying that the Imuran will kick in, but I'm getting so much worse by the day. The flare isn't too bad but i'm just so exhausted & having such a hard time breathing & just moving around in general.

Will talk to the PCP on Tues. when she is back in. Someone has to do something for me. I can't figure out why they don't put me on Lasix to get rid of some of this edema. I did medical transcription for a nephrologist (kidney specialist) for 12 years so I know the problems of edema & blood pressure. I saw my urogyne last week & they did a urine culture so I know I don't have an infection but I'm sure this is playing hell on my kidneys.

That's where I'm at right now. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel better. Dozed for 3 hours this afternoon & all I did today was go out for breakfast. I could hardly keep my eyes open when I got home.

Luv ya,

Susiecue
