Hi , I am in the same circumstance as you. BCBS has sent out a letter to

me as well as Dr R which I will receive any day now. I have had this plan for

over 20 years now and I find it and the administrators to honorable and easy to

communicate. The hospital is required to get precertification, if they do not

then they will be fined or rather they won't receive the same level of payment

as usual. This will not penalize you what so ever. As far as precertification

for the surgical procedure by DR R.: This is a step that he requires, exactly

whay happens after that is any bodies guess. I triend to speak with the person

from BCBS of North Carolina (they issue payment rather than your state) but she

was busy but I was told that she has seen Dr R patients papers before. Perhaps

other Federal BCBS patients can tell us what happens next. Shelly in Jax
