Guest guest
I think it's great that for many kids the Band is fine and I had hoped for that also, b/c I got similar replies when I first asked. Unfortunately, my son hated his Doc Band and it took a long time for him to finally accept it. He is very aware of his surroundings. So, we banded him at 4.5 months and I would say that he tolerated it after a month. He was very severe and he is getting his second band in a few weeks but I would def. do it all over again. He has greatly improved and I am happy to have this option to correct his plagio and brachy. So, even if my baby doesn't like the Doc Band, and probably never will fully adjust to it, I am grateful I did it and he'll eventually have a normal shaped head and symmetrical features. > > My daughter was diagnosed with moderate to severe plagiocephaly at 2 months old. She also had torticollis. We did physical therapy to correct the torticollis, but she still needs a shaping helmet. She is four months old now. We have decided to go ahead with that, but I am nervous about how she is going to react to the helmet itself. She absolutely hates anything on her head as it is now! When we have to put a hat on her to go outside, she screams! For anyone who has already gone through this, about how long did it take for your child to get used to the helmet? >
Guest guest
My son got his helmet when he was about 4 months old. He too had hated anything being on his head. We were sooo concerned about how he was going to react to the helmet. We were astounded. He didn't even notice when the OT put it on. He didn't mind it at all. Now though, the sideburns bother him all the time 'cause he's teething. Also, it's getting snug, so I guess it's more noticeable to him. He tugs at it. > > My daughter was diagnosed with moderate to severe plagiocephaly at 2 months old. She also had torticollis.
