Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, I was just looking at the Pittsburgh site (re. hereditary pancreatitis) and I clicked on the link to " Other centres " . One was the Cincinnati one. I THINK the link for the Cin one is : www.ucpancreas.org/ at least that seemed to be the address that appeared on my address bar while I was on the site. You've probably already seen it but it looks very impressive. If you haven't seen it I'm sure you'll be somewhat reassured. It's obviously one of the three leading US centres for TP with ICT and an impressive pancreatic centre all round. Thanks for the explantion about the tubes. Sounds rough, I have to say. You're right that I have a choice although the 40% risk of panc cancer does make a difference when I'm thinking about this one! I know you have not been given a choice but I hope that means your docs are sure it is the best thing for you and therefore your condition post-op will compare very favourably with your condition now. They wouldn't be sure that the TP was the right thing unless they really thought it would very much improve your condition. People often speak about getting their life back after the TP. This is what I hope for you. Yes, I am very grateful for the pain-free holiday. I'm pain-free again to-day despite yesterday's excruciating pain. I'm trying to cut down on eating because I remember that in Nov. 2002, before I knew I had CP and when the symptoms were pretty bad all the time, I went on a slimming diet and everything improved drmatically for a couple of weeks. Maybe if I cut down just a bit on portions it would help to keep the pain at bay. The thing is, I don't really have the malabsorption pains and symptoms any more.....the Creon deals with that.....but the upper-abdominal pain, which is when the panc itself is inflamed, still comes from time to time. That's the worst pain of all, in my case, and it decreased a lot for a few months but seems to be on the prowl again now. Still, time will tell. Afraid we didn't take pics at the opera. There might be one when we were on the Eye (NOT dressed up though!). I'll have a look. Jim took a superb one of the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben etc. from the Eye but we're not on it.....that's one reason why it's so good!! Take care Chrissy and have a look at that site. I'm going to! It looked very good but I left it right away to give you the link in case you hadn't visited it. I'm going back to it now. With love, Fliss
