Guest guest
Tammy, I am so sorry you are still having pain and yes, you are in the right group. Has your PCP thought about sending you to a pancreatitis specialist? Have they checked your triglycerides or your calcium levels? Both of those could cause pancreatitis, though there is a big possibility that you have idiopathic pancreas (one of my Gastroenterologist told me that that meant that the doctors were idiots and couldn't find a reason for the pancreatitis), which means that the doctors don't know what is causing the problem. Don't just sit there if you are in such horrible pain. Definitely bring it to your doctor's attention, even if it means you have to be readmitted to the hospital. Trying to just ignore it can be dangerous as pancreatitis has been known to killl people. You may also have developed chronic pancreatitis and that would account for the almost constant pain. Also, as others have recommended, stay away from any alcohol (even in foods or medicines like cough syrups) and also high fat foods. You want to stay as low fat to no fat as you possibly can as high fat can aggravate pancreatitis. A good website on information regarding pancreatitis is the Hopkins GI website. It has info on both acute and chronic pancreatitis. Here are the links for both. Acute pancreatitis: http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1 & organ=4 & di\ sease=22 & lang_id=1 Chronic pancreatitis http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1 & organ=4 & di\ sease=24 & lang_id=1 If the links don't work, copy and paste the whole text string to your browser, including any text that may wrap to the next line. I hope this is of some help. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional.
