question about numbing creams

Ok--now that Cody is allergic to EMLA cream, we have to find something else.

Dr. Milla suggested trying ela-max cream first, and if that doesn't do the

trick, we will try a spray that I believe is a Lidocaine 10% spray. Anyone have

any experience with either of these? The ER used a lidocaine 2% gel on him, and

we again tried it tonight, but that did NOTHING as far as numbing goes. I even

tried it on my own arm to see, and would peel back the bandage every 15 minutes,

and I saw no numbing even after an hour.

Any suggestions or advice would be MUCH appreciated!!

Thanks!

S., mom to Cody (7, pwcf), DJ (8, nocf), and a (14, nocf)
