Guest guest
wow, let's see, my response from you is " probably won't need pain meds anyway " , what do you do for the rest of your life than? I'll be thin but crippled from degenerative arthritis. I don't think that my stomach being smaller is going to have an affect on that. Do You? Vioxx, have tried it, doesn't help. I guess I will have to Ask R, but I thought maybe someone out there already knew the answer. thanks for the sarcasm with the " oh piffle " and " find out for yourself " comments and the Ice cream comment. Are you being funny or deliberately RUDE. Maybe I'm a little touchy, trying to figure out whether this is right for me or not, but isn't that what this board is all about. You seem to be the major presence here, don't you remember what you were feeling when you first started looking into this. maybe you knew immediately it was for you, but some of us are not that lucky. thanks for all the help with :0 ROTFLMAO, wow was that long. you were in the typing mode last night I guess - kathy -(1) You probably will be pain free for the first time in a long -time, -immediately after surgery. It's hard to believe but true. -(2) You can't take things like tylenol because of the damage they do to -your liver and you can't take things with aspirin because of the risk of -ulcers. You can take things like Vioxx after surgery, but that will be up to Dr. R. > I was supposed to get a list of can't EAT's from Liz (I think)in CT. Oh, piffle!!! Find out for *yourself* what you can eat after surgery. It's not that big a deal, really it is *not.* The main difference is in *amount* you can eat, not what you can or can't eat, at least after you get out of the first month or so after surgery, and you will have such a great working stomach, you will feel *full* on small amounts and not at all deprived. Here is my list of " can't eats: " Ice Cream, sometimes, not always. Big burden, that one, totally destroyed my life, I feel soooo deprived and dysfunctional, how will I ever ever make it without ice cream?? (I'm kidding!!!!). Frozen yogurt is fine and frankly, I cannot tell the dif between frozen yogurt and ice cream, myself. _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
Guest guest
Hi. I want to say that I know . She has been a great help to many on this board. I read her response to you, and " knowing her " I know that she meant no sarcasm at all. I don't really understand why you think that she was attacking you in some way. I had my MGB on August 11th and I can already tell a huge difference in the degree of pain with my multiple orthopedic problems. Yes, there are times in the day when the pain from these injuries are really bad, but it passes quickly. If you take pain medications after the MGB, you risk permanant damage to your liver. Dr. R. has always said that this surgery is not for everyone, and if a person is not able to live without medication that may damage the liver after by-pass, then he most likely would not operate on that person. I have noticed many changes in my short 11 days post-op, including the following: no more headaches, normal blood pressure, no more swelling from retaining fluids, my joint pain has decreased. You are welcome to ask any questions on this list, but please don't attack others for offering their opinions. Oh yeah, keeps things such as the ROTFLMAO thing on file and posts it for those who ask. It sounds to me like you are the sarcastic one here. Stormy > wow, let's see, my response from you is > > " probably won't need pain meds anyway " , > > what do you do for the rest of your life than? Everyone I personally know of who has had this surgery who had joint pains has seen an amazing dissipation in the symptoms, yes. But this surgery isn't for everyone and maybe the risk of having pain and not being able to take medication for it would make it unadvisable for you. That will have to be your call. > > Vioxx, have tried it, doesn't help. That's what smileys are for -- I should have used one! > > Maybe I'm a little touchy, trying to figure out whether this is right for me > or not, but isn't that what this board is all about.
