Guest guest
Well, the rumors about hair loss are true. I started losing hair just a couple of weeks after surgery (I always lose hair after a general anaesthesetic) and it has continued pretty steadily right on through now (12 weeks) and has not stopped. I seem to have lost about 1/3 of my hair and it is getting pretty thin, especially in the front and on top. I have baby fine, limp hair anyway, so now it looks like my hair is smashed to my head on top, but it's just thin. I am getting a lot of new hair growth, so I'm sure it's going to grow back, but I'm beginning to see why so many people seem to get their hair cut after this surgery. I'm going to wait a few weeks, then get a cut and a perm. The hair loss does not seem to be related to protein or zinc deficiencies, because the hair loss started before protein deficiency could have been a problem (2 weeks) and I was taking zinc supplements for more than a month prior to surgery and still take them. I've watched my protein intake carefully and have always managed to get enough protein since surgery, too. It also can't be the " shock " of starvation, either, since my body is only shaking loose 2 pounds a week or less as it is. So, for what it's worth, I guess there's no magic bullet to stave off the hair loss. Kind regards,
