Thank GOD The mini gastric bypass is not a MASON loop, but a modified Billroth2. Most of the problems occured from the Mason loop because it 1) did not have a protective pouch and 2)took place above the esophgeal sphincter which lead to erosion/esophegeal cancer! I for one have NEVER been contacted by anyone to be placed in a study, but will gladly be endoscoped over a periodic basis in the study of this procedure. The BILLROTH 2,which IS the procedure that Dr. Rutledge is calling the mini-gastric bypass, has been used for years to treat ulcers w/o negative long term effects. Why doesn't any of these SELF proclaimed " experts " speak to that procedure? It seems they are as afraid of educating themselves as well as their patients! My 5 cents today!
